Chinese
Gods are typically divided in two ways: the natural God, and the human
God. Human Gods were originally human, but due to their
extraordinary deeds are posthumously worshipped and made divine.
"Wen
Trung God" is also called Dsu Tong God and was born when his father
was sixty years old. His birthday is February 3, and he often spoke
words of wisdom and was well read at a young age.
One
year, there was a big drought and he dreamt that he worked as a divine
official in charge of rain, and thus he commanded there be rain, and it
did! He later dressed as a scholar and traveled around.
Students
in the past inevitably worshipped Wen Trung God for tests. And thus
they worshipped Him even more than they did Confucius. This is still
the case today, as witnessed by the piles and piles of ID cards in the
temple asking for blessings during the testing season.
