There are two odes written in calligraphy:
"Chee-Shan
Ode" was written in 1849. From these odes we see the histories evolve and change and how the land became public land from private land. The memory garden underwent reconstruction in 1999, and a "respect the words" booth was added. It is an ancient Chinese belief and tradition for scholars to respect the written word. This is also to pay tribute to the person who invented words and enhanced civilization as we know it. In the modern sense, we should respect the intellectual property of others, so this booth does have its applicable meanings even today. |
