[heavenly
hole rock]
[fossilization]
In the tradition of Chinese worshipping, we consider rocks and trees and other objects of nature to possess divine qualities. Thus we also worship the watergod.
During
the famous Chuan Drung Civil War in 1859, the Drungs were defeated to
a point where they could only hang on to Chee Shan Rock as their final
protection; the Chuan devised a plan that would ultimately destroy all
water sources for the Drungs. Since then the holy water miracle story spread, and people all over the country came to Hway Jee Temple to worship and take home some of the holy water. In 1933, a guy who thought he was smart tried to enlarge the fountain by digging it wider and deeper; unfortunately, the spring dried up as a result of his endeavor, and all that's left is a relic and a beautiful story. If human beings can live harmoniously with nature, she will provide us with unlimited supply of resources; but if we destroy and exploit her, then we are left with the awful consequences. <<Mr.Shee's interview>>
