Q
: The original pen that Mr. Pan used in
writing the four letters was preserved in the Wen Trung Temple.
Some say it was later stolen, some say it was burnt by fire.
Which is correct?
A
: Mr.Pan
gathered the community and asked them to help combine the Hway Jee
Temple and the Wen Trung Temple in one. The new temple would
be directly facing the Dragon Mountain Temple, which was the largest
temple of the opposing Chuan Tribe.
Mr.
Pan was ecstatic when the temple was finished, so he wrote the four
words "heavenly hole blessed land", and the pen was
preserved in the temple.
At
that time, my great grandfather had brought backk from mainland
China two beautiful lanterns and every 1st and 15th of every month,
he would light the lanterns and hang them in the halls of the temple
to celebrate. Strangely, every time he did that, the
opposing Dragon Mountain Temple would have a small fire.
Thus,
the opposing temple conspired with the monk in charge of Hway Jee
Temple to start a fire and consequently everything, including the
pen and the lantern were burnt down. |
