[journals] [interviews
with elderly] The "Rock" is considered the most interesting and fun place in all of Shih Lin. No one in the area doesn't know it. Unfortunately, due to the so called modernization of the place, it has become quite different than what it used to be. During our interview, we realized that the first impression that this place gave people used to be good place for exercising and sight seeing, but ever since they built the wooden bridge, not only does the surface of the bridge become slippery, but also the sight has become quite different from before. It is true that modernization is necessary sometimes, but we can't deny the fact that it has its setbacks. In short, history and culture, for the lack of a better word, is "irreplaceable." This
experience has made me feel so much sense of accomplishment. The
website's speed is very good, but I think that some of the themes were a
little unclear, and it's a little too complicated for me to see that
different files are under other files. But, overall, it's been great
working on this. <<by

During the research, we did so many extra things just to make the project more comprehensive. I hope we win number 1 again. In
Chee Shan Rock, I saw many natural habitat, but I also see the place get
ruined by government intervention. I hope we don't bend tree branches
and not expand too much in order to protect this place.

The most
impressive of the Chee Shan Rock project is the fact that I got to interview
the elderly. It's kind of interesting that they don't always agree on
the issues. I also wish that there are more "historic" things
at Chee Shan Rock
for me to learn about, and not become too modern too soon. For example,
the wooden trails used to be really pretty and ancient looking, but not
anymore. <<by
Wang bohjun>> I
participated in the project not knowing that I would be ultimately selected
as official team member. So I felt really lucky. After the
project started, I realized that before I simply "browsed" Chee
Shan Rock without really looking at it. So my conclusion is that, this
place is really a "treasure" place. I hope that everyone
could love and cherish this natural habitat, and preserve it for future
generations to come. <<by Chang
Renhao>> I feel very honored to be a part of the Dr. Dragon team. I think that the most important lesson that I learned is that teamwork is really important. Chee Shan Rock is a really complete cultural artifact, and in areas such as geological characteristics, plantlife, or prehistoric culture, it is worth our undivided attention. But
it is also so important for us to find a way to balance the intricate
relationship between that of preserving the past, and looking on to the
future. That, I think, is a lesson that everyone needs to learn about.

can't believe I didn't know about the beauty of "the Rock" even
when I live in Shih Lin. I think the most interesting about this
project is the legend of the Kai King and his horse. I would love to be
like him one day, to defend his country and people and lead everyone to a
victorious battle. Even though I am still young right now, I think that
as long we try, everything and anything is possible. <<by
Hsiao jeff>> The most important fact that I
learned about this place is that I now know that Taipei used to be a
lake! Also I learned about the origin and history of the Rock. I
think that from a learning point of view, it is important that we preserve
the precious place, for the sake of our future generation.
<<by
Lin dsuyun>> I learned so much from this that I feel like I changed from an outsider to an "insider". My favorite part are the skeletons. Its historic and archeological meaning fascinates me. Also
I learned a lot about website writing and art work. We were really
lucky that those days that we went interviewing were sunny, beautiful days.
<<by
Soo Jiachee>> I
felt so much when we learned about the stonehorse, stone frog, and stone
snakes: we don't want to be sinners in the eyes of our next generation, thus
we should try really hard to preserve the natural habitat and Chee Shan rock
for them. They, too, deserve to learn about mother nature and open their hearts.
<<by
Lai yienting>> Before I learned about the Rock, I always felt that it was only some scenic place. But the more I learn about it, the more I love the place. But at the same time, I also feel sorry for the fact that we haven't done a good job preserving this wonderful treasure of ours. "From
afar, it's nothing. A closer look reveals that it's a
treasure." That's how I feel about this place.
<<by
Wu yeeshuan>> I didn't want to join at first, but my parents asked me to, so I did. And what a wonderful decision it was. The interviewing was so fun, and I agree with one of the elders when he said that the place doesn't look like before due to all the renovation and modernization. My
teacher asked me to type up our reports and give it to him in a computer
disc. All in all, it was such a wonderful experience.
<<by
Jien bohtrun>> After months and months of hard work, our project is now finally seen on the website. We feel that such an experience is hard to come along. The knowledge and experience and dedication it involves is simply magnificent. My friends and I felt that the place has been too "modernized". This thought is also shared by many elders who comes to the place. I think
that we should be proud Taiwanese people and show the world that we care
about the place and can help our next generation preserve this wonderful
treasure. <<by
Chen Mayren>> After much data research, interviewing, and hard work, I felt that I have done and learned so much that it doesn't really matter if we win the competition or not. It's
simply a treasure place, this Chee Shan Rock. I wish to share this with
the rest of the world.! <<by Guo
Shaoling>> When I first joined I was really nervous. During the first tour, it was fun to hear about stories. The second tour was for drawing. There were nice elderly there. It was very fun to draw in such a beautiful place. Third time was even better. We did interviews and they told us what they thought of the Rock and how we should try to preserve the place as much as we can. This has been a wonderful
experience. And unforgettable. <<by
Lee songnien>> The term Chee Shan Rock has been familiar to me since I was just a little girl. But at the same time, I feel like a total stranger to her. That is, until I joined this wonderfully meaningful project with my child. This place is simply a treasure. I hope that through time, people can learn more and more about it, but at the same time help preserve it for future generations to come. It is my sincere hope that people truly care about it, and make it into a place much more than some place we come dance and exercise. <<by mommy Lee>> |
